Free Report November : Renewable Energy - Stigler's Gorge project

by Zefania Mkingi | 01-12-2019 06:06

Renewable energy in short it is the total amount of energy that can be used and reused for example energy from water or solar, wind and so on. Tanzania recognizing the contribution of renewable energy RENEWABLE ENERGY has now begun the implementation of a Stigler¡¯s gorge project that focuses specifically on the resolution of the energy crisis in Tanzania, I will not talk about the history of the project but briefly plans that the project grow is as long as the national age today, today in Tanzania in 58 years, plans for the Stigler¡¯s gorge to generate electricity began in the colonial period.

Stigler's gorge hydroelectric power station (SGHPS) also known as HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION is a project to produce more than 2115 megawatts (2,836,000 hp) in the Tanzania river basin.

for the first time the project was initiated, environmentalists began to oppose the project as it was taking place within the area of the world's largest Selous National Forest, whose project resulted in the cutting of approximately 1.5 million trees, which is about 1.8% of the total trees. Located in the 86.2 million selous reservoir covering an area of 91,400 hectares while the project occupies an area of 50,000 sq km. environmentalists also came up with the idea of disturbing the forest's ecosystem and thus eliminating the reputation of having a large-scale forest known as a world heritage, because some organisms would disappear from their habitat. All of the arguments made by environmentalists in Tanzania and the world at large were correct now the question is why the fifth phase government in Tanzania under the president JOHN POMBE MAGUFULI decided to continue the project regardless of the effects that were being released today by environmentalists around the world and resulted in a delayed implementation of the project since the colonial period.

The answers to the above questions, I have tried to find and find the answers to the research, I have taken only those answers that will give us something to study in terms of environmental and renewable energy, political, commercial and economic issues I have left because it is not our purpose to discuss those issues, we need to learn about major environmental issues. So the main reason for developing the Stigler¡¯s gorge project in Tanzania was as follows.

The project will reduce the loss of 300,000 trees to 400,000 trees for the production of charcoal for charcoal so when the project is completed the government will ban the use of charcoal and thus encourage the use of electric stoves as the cost of electricity will be much smaller. so our forests and our trees will survive

Tanzania has thus avoided a loss of approximately $ 3.5 billion by 2033 as a result of deforestation in order to obtain energy,

By putting this massive project in place it will help transit agencies especially public transport to reduce costs and thus more people would prefer to use public transport than private ones and thus reduce the effects of automobile smoke on global warming.

This project will help to speed up the extraction of non-renewable raw materials like natural gas, coal and so on.

With all this but due to this project it will lead to an increase in industrial investment and consequently increase in waste production and environmental pollution.
Environmental officer in Dodoma emphasized that we as students should encourage people to plant trees and clean up and report on any industrial activities that lead to pollution in order to save our community as industrial investment is inevitable but the consequences can be reduced for us to commit so.
