   Management of used tyres is a challange in urban areas. Once these rubber tyres are used for certain distance the friction causes wear and tear and they can no longer be used as they are. We see them dumped around the garage, near river banks and dumping sites. They are non biodegradable meaning they are not decayed. They cannot be burned in the soil or fire. They emit poisonous foul smelling gas with large amount of coal and tar. The following soultion can be effective in proper management of tyres. They can be used in kitchen garden and the concept is called urban tyre gardening. The pilot project was held in a high school where the tyre was filled with compost, soil and gravel prepared to plant flowers.
