Theme report (Renewable energy)

by Dibya Bhatta | 24-10-2019 11:18

Industrialization and urbanization initied by fossil fuel use and carbon emission has already reached to it's climax and everyone is aware now that it's only renewable energy that can protect this planet from upcoming crisis. The most common examples include wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, and hydropower. These days every homes have a biogas plant connected to toilets which in turn is used to produce gas and To light our house and cook food.Geothermal energy is not much in use in our country.but we do have wind energy plants in area like kagbeni mustang where wind blows with high speed. There are tremendous possibilities of employing wind energy to convert to other form of energy in such high altitude. In recent years we have most progressed in terms of solar power and hydroelectric power.Nepal alone has capacity of producing 83,000MW of electricity but so far we are able to produce almost 1000MW only including project under construction. But it's indeed a good news that we don't have electric power outrage(no loadshedding/power cut off)these days.even during the deepawali in big cities when we light must electric lights we don't have that problem anymore. We are kinda self realiant in terms of electric power or hydropower and we do have dream of exporting it aboard.Talking about solar power it has become the electric power for remote village of Nepal where we don't have electric supply.Every roof has solar power in the mountains of Nepal. It is the best source of energy.Even in the big cities today in the street lights we have solar panels fixed for the lighting purpose.

In our home particularly,we have both solar and electric power and for cooking we prefer electric oven compared to gas stove.
But we still use the vehicles that run on Fossil fuels so we need electric power generated buses and e-riksha which are eco-friendly and energy efficient.
We can see e-riksha in terai belt but we rarely see them in the hills because of the topography,.so we need to design ones with strong engines. We need to encourage youths on the book and corner of the country which come up with innovative ideas that replace the Fossil fuels.
We also should practically teach students in school level about the importance not only limit to theory based knowledge.
But these I can see some climate politics going on in the world level too.Rich nations used fossil fuels to accelerate their economics but now they are trying to preach under developing and developing nations not to use fossil fuels just because they fear that
one day they may reacheconomic development and it may have also been done to escalate the price of fossil fuels. They reached their peak with use of fossil fuels to reach the development and now blaming others Agricultural nations that Agriculture contributes to this and that percentage of carbon emission.
So all need to stay alert on this. There is politics going on around for finishing the budget isolated for climate change no such much progress can be seen.Blaming everything for just use of non renewable energy is the source of the climate change is also not right .
We all should stay alert and work on it.Our small effort can make a big difference so we should keep inspiring and trying from our own level.
On a nut Shell there is no alternative to the renewable energy to protect our planet to reduce toxic emission and hand a fresh earth to our off springs.
