Water is precious. We as global citizens need to ensure that we do not waste the resource and use it efficiently.

A few tips to reduce water wastage and usage are as follows:

1.     When you are travelling or on the move: Ensure to carry your own steel or glass water bottle. This will reduce the consumption of bottled water (plastics).

2.     Washing your hands: Turn off the tap while you lather your hands with soap.

3.     Brushing your teeth: Use a small cup of water to minimize the wastage or turn off tap while brushing.

4.     Bathing and Showering: Take a shower quickly within 4 to 5 minutes to save water. Use the cold or lukewarm water for other activities instead of wasting it go down the drain.

5.     Washing hair: Turn off the tap while you apply shampoo and wash.

Simple tips to reduce water usage at functions and events:

1.     Carry your own reusable or refillable water bottle which will save the use of glasses

2.     Fill up water only as required

3.     Have a volunteer to assist in filling the water in a bottle or cup and to ensure that the taps or faucets are closed completely after use.

4.     Take a count of the expected attendees for the event while preparing tea or coffee to avoid wastage.

5.     Instead of hand washing dishes one by one, soak the dishes and wash them together in a dishwasher.
