World Food Day

by Rafa Mohammed Ashique | 18-10-2019 17:35

Malnutrition and poverty for all developing and non-developed countries around the world are actually two major challenges. Given the governments around the globe taking active steps, billions of people remain at the risk of hunger. Not unexpectedly, so many efforts are being made to ensure food for all and eliminate hunger in that direction. Another such move is the Word Food Day.
Saving food is undoubtedly one of the best things anyone can do to support the cause of eradicating hunger and malnutrition. Through saving, we say to cook as much as you need to reduce waste–not to eat less!

Contribute to farmers: they provide the world's meat, and if you can on this noble day, it may also be a good idea to help them in some way. Donate some cash to any organisation that works to solve farmers ' problems, or support them on this day if you know any farmers themselves.
The UAE has initiated the National Food Security Strategy 2051, aimed at achieving zero hunger throughout the world by ensuring access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food throughout the year. Specifically, the plan aims to introduce resilient farming practices that increase productivity and efficiency, which help maintain ecosystems.

This comprises 38 main short and long-term projects and is based on five strategic goals:-facilitate global food exchange-diversify sources of food imports-identify alternate supply schemes spanning three to five sources for each major food class.

The policy is aimed at:-making the UAE the highest in the Global Food Security Index by 2051 and by 2021 among the top ten nations.

Develop a comprehensive national system to encourage sustainable food production by using modern technologies— enhance local production — develop international collaborations to diversify food sources— enable legislation and policies to improve nutrition.
