Rabies awareness to students

by Bal krishna Pandey | 03-10-2019 00:38

25th October, 2019
Here, I want to share some glimpses of mass awareness program against rabies conducted by Research and Extension Committee under Nepal Veterinary Students¡¯ Association, Agriculture and Forestry University, Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal.

Students of Laxmi higher secondary school, Bharatpur 9, Chitwan were given information about Rabies, its symptoms, effects, vaccination and methods of prevention through poster and video presentation. We were very pleased with the way students, teaching staffs and most importantly principal of this school coordinated with our attempt to spread awareness among the students. We would like to thank   them all for their support and expect the same on upcoming program.

Rabies, 99% fatal but 100% preventable disease is a serious problem in underdeveloped and developing country. That¡¯s why Asia and Africa are major continents, where 95% of human death occurs in poor and vulnerable populations liming in remote rural location. Rabies vaccines and immunoglobulin exists but not available to those in need. So, to prevent, eliminating rabies in dog is must. Educating dog behavior and bite prevention for both children and adult is an essential extension of rabies vaccination program. Pre exposure immunization vaccine is highly recommended for people in certain high risk occupations such as laboratory workers, veterinary professionals and activists, travelers and people living in high risks.

Being as RECOM coordinator of such a prestigious organization, I would like to thank all the helping hands who always motivate me to do better job. Now, I am engaged in this great platform as 23rd regional ambassador Tunza Eco Generation,I would like to thank TEG whole team for positive feedbacks for my programs with valuable suggestions.
