by Zefania Mkingi | 26-09-2019 22:06

INTRODUCTION

I organized the cleanness during the long holiday of university for my fellow students to clean their residential areas across our country during the World cleanup day on 21st September 2019. Several students and other community members participated in the cleanness in their residential areas across our country.

Motivation and Awareness to Members and Community

I used pictures posters with special message to motivate and giving awareness to the society, through the social networks (Instagram, twitter, whatsapp etc.)
The total of 150 students supported me to participate in giving awareness and motivating others about the cleanness on the world cleanup day.

OUTCOME OF THE CLEANNESS

My fellow students and I managed to do cleanness on the world cleanup day (21st September 2019).almost 95 students and community members participated in the cleanness motivated by me , across the nation, in which almost 1250 kg of wastes were collected, plastic wastes were the most litter found, followed by paper wastes and steel wastes. While AZAM COMPANY PRODUCTS led in the wastes collected.
Cleanness was done in Songwe, Tanga, Dodoma, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Simiyu, and Kilimanjaro regions.

CHALLENGES DURING CLEANNESS

I and my fellow students faced the absence of recycling centers in our areas which forced us to burn wastes collected, also we faced poor participation of people in cleanness, delay of regional municipal and local governments on the day of world cleanup, the violation of law against the use of plastics bags, improper waste disposal, and absence of dustbins.

CONCLUSION

I concluded that there is a necessity to increase measures of conserving the communities by communities members participation and flow of information in the community in order to have effectiveness management the environment hence promotion of sustainable development

RECOMMENDATIONS

Basing on the data collected by me and my fellow university students during the cleanness on the world cleanup day, I recommended that the government and communities at large have to ensure that environments are clean by frequently participating in cleanness, preparing dustbins to avoid and reduce littering, also government have to make sure that there are as many as possible the recycling centers across our nation to reduce the effects of burning wastes and land filling of the wastes, lastly government leaders especially (local and regional government leaders) and communities members have to commit themselves in making our country clean.
