![]() ¡°Youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow¡±, these golden words by Nelson Mandela very much defines the importance of youth in shaping the future of our earth as the leaders are the harbinger and trendsetter to steer the nation ahead and safeguarding the environmental policies . Youth today need to actively participate in the upliftment of our society and in the sustainable activities to safeguard our environment. With the advancement in technology youth today can easily and readily access the information related to environment of our planet earth and how to sustain it. They can bring fresh and innovative ideas to make our environment sustainable for our future citizens. However, young adults need to have vision to work on environment protection. Instead of waiting for some change they have to bring the change in their attitude and behavior and have a positive outlook towards saving our earth from greenhouse gas emissions. The youth have lived all their lives in an era in which environmental issues have loomed large. A major reason why the youth ought to take the lead in protecting the environment is, stronger awareness of the issues and a greater stake in long-term sustainability. There is a saying, ¡°practice what you preach¡±. With this thought in my mind, as a young student I embarked upon my green journey few years back by being a core member of an environment group called ¡°WE CARE¡±. I collaborated with many other children and youth across the emirates and initiated many eco-friendly activities like- beach cleanup, tree planting, attended sustainable fair and we also conducted awareness campaign and workshops on food wastage and energy saving. I thank my fortune for letting me know about Tunza Eco generation. It evolved me not only as an eco warrior but also as an individual. Each and every member on Tunza Platform is truly inspiring. Every day is a learning for me, when I read the updates of my Tunza friends. Hence I can certainly say—the journey towards making our earth greener and its people happier continuous. |
