Thankful to you ozone

by Preeti Karki | 17-09-2019 15:10

What is ozone?
Ozone, or trioxygen, is an inorganic molecule with the chemical formula O ©ý.
So why is it so important?
If the ozone disappears, then ultraviolet from our dear sun will reach our earth. The three forms are UV-A, UV-B and UV-C are three forms of UV. UV-B and UV-C are very dangerous while UV-A can actually be beneficial for us.
The purpose of ozone is to protect living organisms from the excessive UV radiation which can  lead to mutations, skin cancer, cataract and harm our immune system.

Is ozone layer healing?
But since the late 1970s, the ozone layer had been consistently thinning due to the overuse of chemicals called chlorofluorocarbons, reaching a crisis point in the 1990s when about 10 per cent of the layer had been eroded.
"In the past 19-years, parts of the ozone layer have recovered at a rate of one to three per cent every ten years, UNEP has found"

How can we protect ozone layer?
1. Some of the most dangerous gases are CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons), halogenated hydrocarbon, methyl bromide and nitrous oxide.so we should reduce the use of products which produces these.
2. Try not to talk vehicles while walking short distance. It will improve your health as well as secure ozone for future generation.
3. Do not use cleaning products that are harmful to the environment and to us

Let us take a moment to realise how grateful we are . :)
