Dear Tunza members and Readers, Recent global climate negotiations are pushing all countries to take more aggressive steps to reduce their carbon footprint. Cities are heating up much faster than surrounding countryside because of heat-trapping asphalt and concrete that creates urban heat islands that can't cool off, even at night. This is known as urban heat island (UHI) effect, So how do we make cities cooler and healthier?. Planting of trees and making our city green is recognised as a significant step to achieve this goal. Please have a look at this pic to understand it better
When it comes to UAE Climate, planting the ghaf tree in urban areas is a sensible solution to counter UHI. A single ghaf can sequester 34.65 kilograms of CO2 emissions per year. Friends, I laud the efforts of Dubai Municipality which has added 1.7 million square metres of greenery in the city in 2018 by planting 44,000 trees on the roads. Dubai Municipality is also planting Ghaff trees which is one of the most suitable tree for UAE climate. Please read more here link from Gulf news link Regards Arjun Anand Mallya UAE |
