AFFORESTATION AND CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN

by Bal krishna Pandey | 01-09-2019 13:14

An afforestation program was successfully organized on dated 2076 Bhadra 8(August 25,2019) within the periphery of beautiful Rhino Lake situated at Rambel Samudiyak Ban, Bharatpur 12 with the main motive of conserving environment involving youths along with the objectives of promoting local tourism to support theme ¡°VISIT NEPAL 2020¡± and conserving Environment.

Rambel Rhino Lake is in the Rambel Samudayik  Ban (Rambel community forest) around the northern corner of Bharatpur. The lake is very attractive for the nature lovers where tourists can enjoy the natural movements¡¯ wild animals and birds. Especially one horned rhinoceros is the main attractive part of this place where other wild animals like wild boar, deer, antelopes, and tigers, golden jackals, fishing cats, jungle cats, leopard cats, large and small Indian civets, Asian palm civets, crab-eating mongooses and yellow-throated martens also come for fresh and natural water. The lake area serves as an important bird watching center also. Wild flora and fauna makes the corner of Bharatpur attractive and peaceful.

Nepal is rich in biodiversity so that we have variety of species and some are protected due to the threat of extinction. This buffer zone of Chitwan National Park plays as a bridge between two geographic landscapes. I.e. terai  region(Churia  range) and Mahabharat range which is the major wildlife movement area.

The afforestation program was mainly organized by Leo club of Bharatpur Chautari where I got a chance to represent myself as Tunza Eco Generation 23rd regional ambassador. We were successful to plant about 200 plants. The plants are mainly for beautification of the lake to attract more people for peace of the mind. Personally, I donated 5 flower plants and actively took part in the program.

During the program, we also discussed about Tunza Eco Generation and its opportunities. I was very happy to share my experience as a member of TEG. Also, I shared the information about the essay competition organized by Tunza . Some of them were highly interested about it and now they are member also.

At last, we organized a short clean up campaign and maintained the periphery plastic free.
