Sc & A.H, Paklihawa Campus, IAAS, TU Air pollution can be defined as an alteration of air quality that can be characterized by measurements of chemical, biological or physical pollutants in the air. Therefore, air pollution means the undesirable presence of impurities or the abnormal rise in the proportion of some constituents of the atmosphere. Air pollution is caused by the presence in the atmosphere of toxic substances, mainly produced by human activities, even though sometimes it can result from natural phenomena such as volcanic eruptions, dust storms and wildfires, also depleting the air quality. There are ways to prevent, control and eventually reduce air pollution 1. Renewable fuel and clean energy production The most basic solution for air pollution is to move away from fossil fuels, replacing them with alternative energies like solar, wind and geothermal. 2. Energy conservation and efficiency Producing clean energy is crucial. But equally important is to reduce our consumption of energy by adopting responsible habits and using more efficient devices. 3. Eco-friendly transportation Shifting to electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles, and promoting shared mobility (i.e. carpooling, and public transports) could reduce air pollution. 4. Green building From planning to demolition, green building aims to create environmentally responsible and resource-efficient structures to reduce their carbon footprint. In addition, monitoring air pollution levels has become very important to detect pollution peaks, better control air pollution and eventually improve air quality. #BeatAirPollution 2nd Contestant No 12 Prashant Gyawali Bsc.Ag, Paklihawa Campus, TU We all know what air pollution means. It means presence of particulate matters and other gases which naturally wouldn't be present in the air. Undoubtedly it is harmful for all things; even nonliving as it damages and destructs their normal natural cycle. We've all faced air pollution and experienced it first hand, whether it be on the streets while going out for a quick snack or on the way back to work. We all have moments when we felt suffocated and our lungs crave for a breath of fresh air. Although rarely felt in village areas, townspeople can relate to those moments. Those little moments are going to be the future of whole humanity if we don't act now. Not next month, not next week, NOW! #BeatAirPollution Contestant No. 2 With the advancement of modern technology and rise in the number of automobiles, factories, industries and excessive burning of fossil fuels, the quality of air that we are breathing is undergoing the process of deterioration. Almost as per the report of World Health Organization, 9 out of 10 people worldwide are exposed to the level of air pollution. Almost 6 million people dies every year due to the air pollution and spread of many airborne diseases are the reward of polluted air. So, we global citizens have to play a keen and active role promptly for the reducing the air pollution. There are still more effects of air pollution. Some of the ideas that can be used for the mitigation of air pollutions are: • Instead of burying those plastics we can think wisely for their recycle, reduction, reuse, about 29% of global air pollution can be reduced if plastic isn¡¯t burned. • Single tree can produce nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year, so effort should be given for plantation I.e. afforestation of trees as well some air purifier as indoor plants. • Management practices for dust settling and using of ecofriendly means of transportation. • less dependence on fossils fuel alternatively solar energy, wind energy can be used. • As LPG produces 33% less carbon dioxide compared to petrol, Diesel and firewood. So, substitution of fire hood to LPG and stoves. • Use of efficient air pollution fewer electric appliances instead. • Effective saving of energy. #BeatAirPollution Each winner are going to conduct school awareness program about air pollution very soon. I want to thank all ambassadors and mentors for their support and love for me upto now. |
