Gaura Parva and Deuda Nach in Paklihawa

by Prashamsa Bhusal | 24-08-2019 18:34

Gaura festival is one of the most important festival celebrated by the Hindus people mostly of Mid-western and far-western communities. This festival generally falls in the month of Bhadra according to Nepali calendar.
Likewise,Being the student of Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science we are gathered here from different communities .There is an organization called Far Western Students' Society(FWSS).This society organized a special function on the occasion of Gaura Parva called Deuda Nach and Prasad distribution Programme. The Prasad called was given a special name'Biruda'.According to them,Biruda  is mixture of different grains and legumes. We first put on Tika and took blessings and ate Biruda in a special bowl made of leaves called Tapari. This was good to hold because instead of plastic we used it which is in proportion with eco-friendly environment. After that,we danced making different groups of boys and girls.Even we related to other community took part there. The dance was performed by holding hands of each other. It was so much fun.I must say that it was my first experience and really it was so exciting.
This festival not only helped preserve tradition and culture of the region, but also brought us together from the different community .This is how we can say 'Unity in Diversity 'in Nepal.
