 Let me start by saying that Tunza Ecogeneration started as a destination website for me but now is a journey!!! My first visit to Tunza Eco-generation website was in April 2013. As the President of the Community and Environment Club of my primary school, I was searching the web for environment related topics to prepare a speech for the Earth Day. I came across the forum and noticed that few of my seniors from school were members and Ambassadors of the forum. I started visiting the website, found it to be a great resource, and soon was a regular visitor. Thereafter I applied for membership in May 2013 and since then Tunza Ecogen has been a close companion and mentor for me, on the path to follow and promote an eco friendly lifestyle. I truly admire the youth run format of Tunza Ecogeneration, remarkably being ¡®By the youth, for the youth, and of the youth¡¯. Not only is the online forum a great way to reach the tech inclined youth of today, but it also provides an ideal platform for young like-minded environmentalists to connect and communicate with each other; and to top it all, it is using social media for a good cause. The website is user friendly and attractive. The ¡®Resources¡¯ section is my favorite and effective multimedia tool to create awareness about environmental issues during Tunza Ecogen event presentations- events that not only helped me to gain knowledge but also contributed greatly towards improving my public speaking, presentation and leadership skills. Monthly/Annual events and contests are great to keep members engaged in meaningful activities and research. Personally for me, these events have opened doors to a wealth of knowledge that would have remained hidden. Writing reports, essay competitions and other monthly events help me follow the nature trail as well as take a break from regular routine. The highlight of my journey though was attending the Junior Engineering Academy in Seoul in 2017. The workshop will remain etched in my mind for years to come. My report will not be complete without acknowledging Tunza Ecogen for being a valuable EDUTAINMENT (educational as well as entertainment) resource for all of us. |
