![]() ![]() I live in United Arab Emirates. We have our Summer Vacation in July and August. I had been to India to visit my relatives and friends. I had the privilege of visiting an orphanage (Annaikum Karangal) in Chennai, India. Anaikkum Karangal is a nonprofit charity created by likeminded people who are up to making a difference in the society by working for the holistic development of poorer communities focusing on care for elderly, destitute women and underprivileged children. Anaikkum Karangal has been working in the rural & urban. This NGO was formed to educate each and every child, who is under below poverty line. Around 50 children in the orphanage require the necessities and other requirements for their education. I had given a presentation and tips on conserving our mother earth¡¯s resources. We also discussed regarding the harmful effects of plastics to our environment and ourselves. I introduced them to our social networking platform and a few of them were inspired to know about the different environmental issues and topics that are published online in the portal. I informed that there are various monthly events and competitions conducted. I briefed them regarding my campaign (PEPC Campaign) which I am conducting in UAE. The inmates were able to understand the importance of preserving and taking care of their environment by recycling. Towards the end of the session, I organized for a drawing competition. They need to use their artistic talent to depict the importance of taking care of our earth. They were really excited and happy for having participated in the event. Those interested in transforming the lives of these children may reach out to them by visiting the following link: https://www.facebook.com/Anaikkum-karangal-234894716644901/ Let us all unite and ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Tunza Eco Generation is a wonderful platform for youth to get motivated, educate and learn from fellow youths. I want to sincerely thank the team for providing this opportunity to share my experience with other environmentalists who are transforming the lives of others. |
