The art and environmental protection

by Elizaveta Zaretskaya | 20-08-2019 17:02

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Zaretskaya. I would like to draw your attention to my report related to the topic - The art and environmental protection.

In our day's many artists are creating works that draw attention to the effects of climate change. They send us messages! A group of artists joining the public conversation about climate change by creating works that convey their views of humanity¡¯s impact on the environment.

Creating art with an environmental message isn¡¯t new. In the 1960s and 1970s, a group of mainly American artists began to create art that wasn¡¯t meant for the confines of the gallery space. For example, Robert Smithson¡¯s Spiral Jetty (1970) or Walter De Maria¡¯s Lightning Field (1977).

I would like to tell you about one of the world's most popular performance art shows, Blue Man Group (BMG). They visited Taipei on July 2019 after a hiatus of 10 years, showcasing creative instruments, comedy, and original artistic performances. I had a chance to visit their show. They didn't just come to Taiwan to present all-new instruments, this is their way to communicate with people. The Blue Men, since they don't talk or sing songs, they use different ways to communicate and those instruments do exactly that, so when you hear the instrument and hear the sound it gives you a certain emotion and it can build up tension and it can connect with the audience. The connection that is made through the instruments is taken to another level when BMG tries to turn its audience feeling lively, happy and alive.

I recommend everyone to see their message to the people about saving the planet, how to save yourself from Global Warming.
