![]() ![]() Sustainable as its meaning, is vital for all the things on this planet. Development without sustainable is just a failure in its domain. To be precise, whatever we produce or make have to be considered based on sustainable development. Let¡¯s think, when we build a house or may be a stadium, engineers can build those by starting from a draft plan to final drawings, construction management as the procedure and there are always life span for a specific building like 30 years, 100 years. After that period, the building is needed to make necessary repairs. Here, we have come to think sustainable development for it and we should have prepared it from the day one before building it. For sustainable development, renewable energy is one of factors needed to be described. Recently, there has been built 170 MW solar power plant over 700 acres of land in Minbu town of Magway region, Myanmar and aim to produce electricity in summer next year. The site is currently under construction and will be built in four phrases. As the Magway region is located in middle of the country where getting sunlight is not that much difference for summer, rainy and winter seasons, electricity production amount will not be affected that much whether rainy season or winter. Another SDG implementing in Mandalay region is level 4 sanitary landfill which will become Myanmar¡¯s first ever sanitary landfill. As normal dumping grounds ruin the environment, this is really the good project for the environment. There will also be leachate treatment plant to clean up leachate generated from natural decomposition of waste. Additionally, by collecting methane gas which is emitted from waste, 75kW electricity is going to produce and will be used back at the landfill. After all the construction are done, the landfill can be for four lakh and sixty thousand of waste. Waste like plastic will be recycled first before throw into landfill and there will be no organic waste (as it will first be composted), metal, electronic, medical waste, rubber and tire. This is under the project ¡°waste management strategy and action plan for Mandalay¡± by Mandalay City Development Committee. These are some of SDGs that I know so far and hope this can help a little bit in understanding of sustainable development and its environment. |
