In the first part of my article, I began to talk about how tourism can contribute directly or indirectly to the achievement of all sdgs. In the second part of the article I will continue my reasoning. A striking example of the partnership for the SDGs (SDG 17) is the unique UNWTO programme to revive the legend of the Silk road "as one of the most culturally attractive tourist destinations in the world". The main objective of the Program is to promote the strengthening, competitiveness and development of sustainable tourism along the Silk road, while creating a variety of opportunities for international cooperation. Indeed, tourism can contribute to the implementation of all 17 SDGs and help to combat poverty, gender inequality, climate change, as well as address the lack of resources in the least developed countries. In addition, tourism can also play an important role in strengthening and financing the preservation of natural and cultural heritage, as well as in promoting the socio-economic development of tourist destinations. Tourism sector provide an opportunity for every traveler and everyone involved in tourism to contribute to a more responsible, sustainable and inclusive future for all. I am sure that at the near future we will think about the contribution of our trip to the economic development of the visited countries, cities and villages, the solution of social development and environmental protection. So, every tourist can become part of the overall movement for a sustainable future. Do travel for the personal growth and well-being of the planet! |
