![]() Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Zaretskaya. I would like to draw your attention to my report related to the topic of Sustainable Development and its environment. The International Conference on a Sustainable Taiwan was held this summer on June 5 in Taipei City, spotlighting government efforts to promote green practices and solutions at home and abroad. This Conference was organized by the Environmental Protection Agency, the one-day event drew more than 400 attendees from countries and territories including Canada, Japan, and the U.S. Participants discussed topics such as practical measures for implementing the SDGs, progress evaluation methodologies, and mechanisms for achieving social consensus. Taiwan has made considerable progress in SDG implementation across such areas as universal health care, education, and recycling. Sharing experiences and best practices are key to realizing further progress and it is hoped that the forum will help deepen regional collaboration in these areas. They also organized an exhibition showcasing the 19 winners of the National Sustainable Development Awards in 2017 and 2018 (the exhibition includes an eco-education program). In response to the United Nations¡¯ sustainable development goals, which Taiwan shares, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a short film to inform the world of Taiwan's sustainable development efforts, showing its achievements in economy, society, and environmental protection. The short film Taiwan has 80 images of all topics. The film also shows Taipei's famous bridge of scooters image, followed by pollution-free electric scooters, solar and hydrogen batteries. The film ends on the vast image of the whale mother and calf. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the big whales that now appear on the east coast have become the best representation of Taiwan's commitment to a better environment and global sustainable development. Thank you for your attention.
