As we move towards more sustainable and alternative sources of energy, I would like to highlight a project that is underway in Kenya in an effort to eliminate fossil fuel consumption in the country. Garissa Solar Power Plant Located in Garissa county, Kenya, is Garissa Solar Power Plant which is expected to be one of the largest solar power plants in Eastern and Central Africa once completed. The solar plant is expected to strengthen Kenya's solar energy resources diversifying its power generation mix and reduce energy costs. Sustainable Development The completion of the project is expected to also create an economic hub in that Northern part of the country. It is also another step towards achieving Kenya's 2020 target of obtaining 100% green energy across the country and will soon be feeding 54.64 Mega Watts of electricity into the national grid. |
