Environmental Pollution

The surroundings of a physical system that may interact with the system by exchanging mass, energy or other properties. The surrounding or conditions in which a person, animal or plant lives or operates. The natural world, as a whole or in a particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activity. Simply Environment pollution refers to the introduction of any harmful substance i.e. pollutants into the environment. Environmental pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change, in the form of killing of life, toxicity of environment, damage to ecosystem and aesthetics of our surrounding. Environmental pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that causes adverse effect. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy such as noise, heat or light. Pollution is ¡°the addition of any substance or form of energy (e.g., heat, sound, radioactivity) to the environment at a rate faster than the environment can accommodate it by dispersion, breakdown, recycling, or storage in some harmless form¡±.  Environmental pollution is when something is added to the environment that is harmful or poisonous to living things. Environmental pollution is defined as an undesirable change in the physical, chemical or biological characteristics of air, water and land brought about by man's activities that may harmfully affect living organisms and other resources.

POLLUTANT

Any substance, as certain chemicals or waste products, that renders the air, soil, water, or other natural resource harmful or unsuitable for a specific purpose. Something that pollutes the environment are pollutants.  Pollutants are what pollute the environment while pollution is the outcome of that pollutant. A pollutant is a substance or energy introduced into the environment that has undesired effects, or adversely affects the usefulness of a resource. They come in gaseous, solid or liquid form. The substances that actually cause pollution are called the pollutants.
