 International Days are occassions to celebrate the days with events to educate people about the global issues, conduct awareness campaigns along with reinforcement of achievement of Humanity. June 17 is celebrated as the World day to combat desertification and drought. This day is celebrated everyever to celebrate the actions to comabct desertification and drought and reminds land degradation neutrality.. This year, its 25th anniversary of the day to celebrate the 25th year of the United Nation Convention to combact Desertification made by countries on sustainable land management. The day was declared by United Nation General aassembly in 1995 . The theme of this year is "Lets Grow the Future Together" and the event is being hosted by the Ankara by the government by the government of Turkey. The Data by UN says "By 2025, 1.8 billion people will experience absolute water scarcity and 2/3 of the world will be under water stressed conditionand 135 million people may be displaced by desertification by 2045". This day focuses on the Sustainable Development No. 15. With the increase in the cutting down of trees and deforestation and increasing impacts of climate change, the fertile land is being turned into desert. With the increasing population to feed and decreasing amount of fertile land, we must focus on minimizing the impacts of drought and increasing desertification of land. We must reduce land degradtion, cope with the adapation and mitigation of climate change with main focus on aforestation to combact desertification and drought.
