![]() Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Zaretskaya. I would like to draw your attention to my report related to the topic for this month: A Book Review or Report after reading an environmental book such as story! I recently read a very interesting book called «Birds, Beasts, and Relatives» by British naturalist Gerald Durrell. As a child, I read several books by this writer, and I liked them very much (the most famous is «My Family and Other Animals»). «Birds, Beasts, and Relatives» is the second volume of his autobiographical trilogy. The trilogy is memoirs about his childhood with his family when they lived on the Greek island of Corfu. This book offers a series of autobiographical stories from the Durrell family. Gerald Durrell was the youngest child, he was aged ten when his mother moved her family to Corfu. The family was protected by their local friend, taxi-driver Spiro and mentored by the physician and polymath Dr. Theodore Stephanides, who provides Gerald with his education in natural history. In the end, I would like to say a few words about the writer. Gerald Durrell was a British naturalist, zookeeper, conservationist, author, and television presenter. He founded the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and the Jersey Zoo on the Channel Island of Jersey in 1959. He wrote a number of books about his life as an animal collector and enthusiast. If you haven't read his books, I strongly advise you to pay attention to them. Thank you for your attention. |
