My first step towards environment-Bonsai

by Shreya Aryal | 24-04-2019 16:38

I am sharing my experience of preparing a bonsai on Tunza. Being a student of agriculture I believe in applying theoretical knowledge on a practical basis.Thinking that I plan of preparing a bonsai.
A bonsai is the miniature tree grown in a pot (shallow container) which requires both art and passion. Bonsai is originated from China though it is linked with  japan. Bonsai has very high economic value as well. The plant with hardy and flexible stem is selected to prepare a bonsai. It is  starved of plant nutrient  and limiting the space. The plant of ficus family are more preferred as they have hardy  and flexible stem with rigorous growth. It takes about 6-10 years to be a good bonsai .
I searched for the  ficus  plant and I found a small  Ficus bengalensis
(commonly known as bar )in Nepal. Then I prepared a media of garden soil, Farm Yard Manure and sand in the ratio of 1:1:1. I set the prepared media in the small pot with drainage hole and  placed the plant.I covered it with small pebbles to preserve the moisture in it. I am watering it in limited amount but frequently. I am so excited for this journey of preparing a full bonsai. It has been about a month and my little bonsai seems like this.

Bonsai

Bonsai can be used for ornamental purposes in our house and it upgrades the level of surrounding. It is my first experience of preparing a bonsai. It feels really good to have the practical experience on what I have studied. I would be so happy to share my other practical experience here. Tunza inspires me a lot to contibute  to the environment .
