Damages of plastic mass

by Mehri Huseynli | 02-04-2019 06:03

Plastics have almost taken over our lives. Manufacture of plastics, such as bottle, cellophane, fork, knife, is often harmful both to human health and to nature.

New information about the damage of plastics releases every day. Tamara Galloyway, professor of ecotoxicology at the Exeter University, said in a report published in the English Daily Mail: "Many people do not know that there are so many plastic particles in the air."

Bisphenol (BPA) in plastic containers is known to increase heart disease. It is claimed that this compound is forbidden in the manufacture of bottles and also cookware. Additionally, plastic cups are among the truths that are known to increase the risk of cancer in persons who have been drinking hot fluids for a long time. In this regard, it is very dangerous to freeze and heat any liquids in the plastic mass.

It takes about 450 years for plastic mass dissolve in nature.

Plastic bottles generate more than 120 million tonnes of waste every year.

Each year, at least 1 million sea birds, 100,000 marine mammals and sea turtle are perished due to plastic pollution. The current amount of plastic waste in the seas is estimated at 150 million tons. According to these numbers, it is possible to say that the plastic mass that can fill a garbage truck is thrown into seas every second. More than half of the 500 billion plastic bottles manufactured during the year are dispatched to the environment after one-time use. The worst part of the situation is the fact that the plastic we throw into nature is like a boomerang, with fish coming back to our plate at dinner.

According to Ocean Conservancy estimates, the amount of plastic waste in the seas will reach 250 million tons within 10 years, and will be much more plastic than the sea in 2050.
