[July Theme Report] Climate Change in the US

by Jayden Kim | 01-08-2023 09:51

The US is one of the leaders in causes of climate change, but also the leaders in remediating climate change as well. Governmental systems such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the FDA, etc are all part of US climate change agencies responsible in protecting and making companies and factories reliable and responsible for their actions.

There is no doubt that the US is a leading country is the cause of climate change. According to Statista.com, the US emitted about 5 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide, a gas that is the pinnacle of climate change and the reason why climate change has been exasperated significantly in the past decades. However, the US are trying their best with the highest technology to remediate for their carbon dioxide emissions.

To begin, transportation. The US is one of the largest electric vehicle production countries in the world, with electric transportation technology such Tesla, Lucid, and other car companies. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the US has reduced 20 percent of its co2 emissions since 2005, a huge improvement to the overall reduction of co2. Second, agricultural emissions of co2. Agricultural runoff is the one of the largest producers of co2 in the US as well, as the US is the leaders of agricultural production all around the world. However, the runoff and pollution created by agricultural factories has led to massive amounts of co2 to be created. According to the USDA, the US as produce 669 million tons of co2 in 2020.

This immense amount of carbon dioxide had led to climate change to become more and more of a problem in recent years. This summer, temperatures have been at the all time high in history, with some countries becoming up to 120 degreees fahrenheit. In this recent increase, the US has been leading to remediate climate change with all its power. We hope that climate change will become less and less of an issue as time goes on with the help of all countries.
