A Place More Beautiful than Bali

by Ida Ayu Mas Amelia Kusumaningtyas | 20-02-2019 20:59

Bali is an iconic place, it is a very famous tourist destination and almost everyone around the world knows about Bali. The destination has a lot to offer, starting from landscape views, waves to surf, the rich culture that involves food, traditional dances and rituals, as well as spas with its strong herb smell, and so on. Bali has become a crowded place, but is still loved by both local and internationals alike. More often than not, international people wouldn¡¯t even notice that Bali is actually a part of Indonesia.

As a local in Indonesia, I would say there are places as interesting and maybe more than Bali for a vacation getaway. Such as Jogjakarta, Surabaya, Wae Rebo, Raja Ampat, and many more. Raja Ampat is an iconic destination for Indonesian locals, but not everyone can go there. It can be considered that Raja Ampat is the number one beauty in Indonesia, which is located in the Papua Province. The view there is breathtaking. I would at least like to go there at least once in this lifetime.

It¡¯s clear water, makes it possible for people to see the life below. The coral reefs are bountiful and colorful, whereas the fishes are diverse and abundant as well. Making the underwater life at Raja Ampat a paradise for SCUBA divers. As for the view on land, the trees there are very luscious along with clear blue sky. It feels like heaven on earth at Raja Ampat.

The reason why not everyone can go there is due to how expensive the cost is. This is because Papua is located at a far distance from the capital, which means that a lot of fuel is needed. A plane ticket from Jakarta to go to Papua would approximately cost the same as a plane ticket from Jakarta to go to Seoul, South Korea. Locals would then rather choose another place to travel where the cost would be cheaper and more affordable. But perhaps due to this, Raja Ampat¡¯s beauty is conserved from tourists that can¡¯t afford to go there.
