6 Months Challenge

by Ishimwe Eric Josue | 08-02-2019 08:56

Dear all, I would like first to thank each of you for 6 months long we have been together. It was really a very productive term of commitment to protect our beautiful earth; to me it is an unforgettable souvenir I can say. Positive friends I met along the way really amazed me and mostly changed my way of thinking toward environmental actions. I picked some of my work for recall of my past 6 months which I did like to share.

At the beginning we reviewed The Africa Free Trade Area Agreement that took place on 21st March 2018 where 44 African countries were involved. We examined the pros and cons on the ecosystem side, and threats gap to the environment. We recommended governments to draw a special attention to environmental matters when their economies are thriving.

We also reviewed the African Soil Sustainability where the majority of African population get their living. We have examined possible threats to this large population engaged in agriculture sector including soil degradation aspect, and tenure systems. We have seen that future efforts should address soil degradation in a way that leads to changes in soil ecosystem services, and what land management strategies make systems resilient.

We also reviewed global environmental policies. Under this topic we examined the extent to which today¡¯s actions shall possibly affects future generations. We have gone through different policies that are playing a big part in bettering the ecosystem including water regulations, and the infrastructures. We recommended policy makers to be aware of possible environmental hazards, and to warn people of future environmental events to take action before time.

There are many things we have seen together, and I really appreciate our mentors¡¯ guidance to enhance the environmental awareness. Thou I will definitely miss you all, I know each of us shall keep on good work to save our beautiful earth for us and future generations to come. I wish you all the best in your pathway.
