Australian Base Camp(ABC)- mountains and biodiversity

by Asmita Gaire | 25-01-2019 17:29

When it comes about natural beauty, my footsteps always accelerates to behold them. Being born in the plain of Terai completely untouched by Hills and mountains apart from books and social medias; my curiosity to watch them grew vigorously. With this excitement, we troop of Eco warriors, made Australian Base Camp trek, it is one of the short poupulst trekking routs in Annapurna region. The trek starts from Dhampus. The elevation does not reach over 2000 meter so its easy family trekking.

Every steps we march towards base camp, we enriched ourselves with such an incredible natural beauty. Diverse varieties of plants, melodious birds and animal like deer didn¡¯t make us feel as if we were climbing the high elevated stairs. The best thing about trek was that we forgot our tiredness in a second after we observe beautifully sparkled mountain of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. The view of sunrise in other side was captivating. The Annapurna range was wrapped up with snow, the feeling was like; yes the heaven where god lives is here. But the Machhapuchhre was naked in comparison to Annapurna.

It pricked us, on listening the snow in Machhapuchhre is declining yearly. We also observed the Rhododendron which was supposed to be blossom in March, has already started blooming in January. This is all because of changing effect of climate.

Isn¡¯t it heart pricking to observe and listen the mountains and plants which safeguarded us is now being deteriorated?
