![]() The International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture, Food, and Energy (SAFE2018): " Inclusive Agri-food Energy Production for Community Empowerment in a Changing World¡± was from October 18-21, 2018 in MANILA, Philippines. The host institution is Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), Philippines Centre for Postharvest and Mechanization (PhilMech), and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Philippines. This conference has themes especially connected to that of Tunza's initiatives, being related to environmental sustainability. As an ambassador, I helped write a research paper presented at the conference on the topic of: "Assessing the impact of climate change on the traditional hydrological system of the Cordillera Rice Terraces" It is forthcoming publication in the IOP within the month. Furthermore, it was especially inspiring to hear many other presentations given about research related to the environment. Though most of the other speakers were adults, it was beneficial to hear a different perspective on things and to have them give us feedback on how to better improve our research. Academics, researchers, professionals, administrators, educational leaders, NGOs, policy makers, company representatives were all present, contributing even further to the diverse range of voices. Though we didn't participate in the latter part of the conference, there was a additional field trip component. The trip to IRRI or the International Rice Research Institute was the highlight of such and involved a more hands on experience on the topics the conference was themed upon. Overall it was a very rewarding experience and I hope to utilise my experiences from this event to my understanding of environmental rehabilitation.
