Racing Extinction is a documentary film of Okeanos-foundaion for the sea and Discovery in association with VULCAN production, LI KA SHING foundation and JP’S Peace love and happiness foundation.

In these documentary film lots of aspect of environment, conservation, climate change, acidification of oceans and many more is presented.  This documentary does not cover one species or topic, these show lots of events happening I the earth related to our environment and earth.  This is must watch documentary film for every ambassador here, this film add energy in our conservation and awareness work.

In the beginning of the film, environmentalist with hidden camera enter inside the restaurant name HUMP, they  order whale meat, and actually they get 3 pieces of whale meat. Blue Whale is rare species and is in the way of extinction. This lead to protest in front of restaurant, lots of people gathered and protest against the restaurant. Adyl Gil with a big screen and projector protest in front of restaurant both day and night. After 10 days of protest, restaurant closed forever. It shows that positive effort against wrong people always work, we always have to think for conservation.

Dr. Christopher W. Clark (Cornell Bioacoustics Research Program) records the sound of every animal like dolphin, whale, bird, mammals. Cornell Bioacoustical laboratory has the largest repository of animals sound on the planet. They are collecting since 1930s. This part really melted me when recording of song of male ‘o’o bird singing on Kauai to call female, but the male is last species singing for the female who will never come.

Millions and billions years ago asteroids causes extinction of many species in this planet but in anthropocen (time of human) humanity become asteroid and leading to the extinction of many species.

Many environmentalists go to darkest, grimmest and most unsafe places on the planet to save animals. Over 800 environmentalists have been killed in just last decade.

Shawn Heinrichs (Marine Conservationist) helped to convert the largest shark fishing island on the coast of Mexico tone of the top places in the world where we can go and watch shark. Before, at least 200 or more long-lines were together targeting shark each and every single day. Shawn transformed this hunting land to tourist area. Hidden camera in the shirt of environmentalist reveals the bitter truth in warehouse in Hong Kong, 10-20 thousand of fins of shark in one location. The entire roof was covered with the fins of shark.

In the Gulf Oil spill about 4.9 million barrels of oil were spilled, this is the biggest environmental catastrophe in USA ever, but that spill is nothing compared to the damage caused by us doing everyday things we don’t even think about.

We are producing lots of Co2 everyday which react with water in sea and ocean and produce carbonic acid which is dissolving many species like shell gradually.  Methane aid 22 times more than Co2 in climate change.  Cattle are the largest producers of methane in this planet. Livestock causes more greenhouse gases than all the gases emission from the entire transportation sector.

Dr Worm determined that way may have lost 40% of the plankton production in just last 50 years which is main source of oxygen for all living beings in the earth.

It melted my heart when they show the very last Rabbs’ Fringe-imbedd tress frog in captive environment.  Fishing Manta Rays in the village of Indonesia and different aspects associated with it is very important and this documentary clearly presented it. Baiji Dolphins are extinct now because of us humans. Florida Grasshopper Sparrow is very rare now and only found in Kisssimmee Praine reserve Florida. Manta Rays hunting is banned now from CITES in 2013 Bangkok Thailand.

If we stop buying endangered animals products sellers will stop supplying them. Since Wild Aid’s anti-shark fin campaign was released in China, demand for shark fin has dropped by 70%.
