I have great respect for the American actor Leonardo DiCaprio, not only for his acting talent, but also for his active life position. Leo is a United Nations messenger of peace on climate issues. And the actor uses his popularity to draw public attention to the problems of global warming. In 2016, Leo together with Director Fisher Stevens made a documentary film «Before the flood». Leo traveled for two years with the crew. You will see the melting glaciers of Greenland and Alaska, the barbaric deforestation in Southeast Asia, the endangered flora of coral reefs, suffocating from emissions into the atmosphere of Beijing and much more. Frightening statistics from the mouth of the narrator and interlocutors really makes you think and at least try to assess the scale of what is happening. 

  Traveling from the wastelands of Greenland to the forests of Sumatra and the halls of the Vatican, DiCaprio studies the impact of climate change on our planet. He uses his privileges to talk to activists, scientists and the powerful, including Barack Obama, Elon Musk and Pope Francis. Studying the problem from all sides, Leo is looking for an answer to the question: what can we do before it's too late?

  The film leads to the disappointing conclusion that humanity is ruining the narrow-mindedness and unconsciousness. We had enough of this planet, the air, and all the best, but the grandchildren may not be enough. If this problem is understood, understood and passed through your own thoughts and feelings, then life will slowly change. It will become more environmentally friendly and less harmful to our Land. In fact, it is not so difficult to make purchases consciously (from the banal food and ending with the choice of housing and household items). It is not so difficult to organize your food, movement, waste disposal, taking into account our impact on the environment.

  I think this film is a great educational project that can be shown in schools. Personally, I was deeply touched by the phrase:"the land is not inherited from our parents, the Land we borrowed for a while our children."
