Children's Day

by Kushal Naharki | 14-09-2018 18:46

We are celebrating 29th Bhadra as National children's day Since 2063 BS in Nepal. Data reports there are 1.6 million children working as back breaking labor in Nepal which is the worst scenario in South Asia main cause being the poverty and lack of social security. Children are working heavily almost 19 hours a day with lower wages and for food. Although 'Kamlari pratha' has been abolished from Nepal, another form of same system still prevails i.e domestic child labor.

We can see them being used to sell water bottles at streets or kept as domestic helper carrying loads and washing dishes i.e. children are found employed. Child slavery is a crime against humanity. Humanity itself is at stake. Every child, whether it's yours or mine, rich or poor is the same. Then, why is it that the poor children have to lose their childhood because of poverty?

Every child deserves to get educated and live his childhood. Let?s join hands. Let?s stop employing children in our homes for domestic help. Lets take a pledge to combat child labor this children's day.

Children are the future of the nation. They should be well educated. They should be involved in productive works like environmental protection rather than employing them in domestic works against their right.
