Pesticide used status in Nepal
Chemical pesticide is used in Nepal only after 1950 decade.
•1950s: DDT imported from USA by Ministry of Health
•1954: MOAC used DDT for crop pest management
•Average pesticide used in Nepal is 396 gram ai/ha (PPD, 2016), Vegetable: 1605 g ai/ha
•Annual import of pesticide is 410 aiMT out of which Insecticide: 138 ton, Fungicide: 164ton, Weedicide: 101ton and others 7 ton
•Pesticide used is lowest in far western development region while highest in central development region
•In the central development region, Kavrepalanchokis the leading district followed by Dhading, Chitwan, Makawanpur, Sarlahi, Valley, Bara and Parsha
