What can I do with my dream?

by Anishka Jha | 19-08-2018 05:31

My dream is to be an architect in the future. It is something I?ve always wanted to be as a child as I had a special interest in designing. Everyone believes architectural engineering is all about drawing and scheming objects or buildings, but there?s more to doing just that in that field/profession.

With the constant threat humans have been putting Earth on, the planet is under a lot of pressure. Global warming was a doubt that is slowly turning into a reality. I, as a citizen, don?t do much for the environment and therefore I felt architecture is one of the best professions I could pick for the future.

For future generations, architecture will be used not only to satisfy human needs and desires, but to also have a sustainable impact on people. Sustainable architecture is architecture that seeks to minimise the negative environmental impact of buildings by efficiency and moderation in the use of materials, energy, and development space and the ecosystem at large.

Sustainable architecture also focuses primarily on how energy will be used for the structure and how to effectively conserve it. My dream would be to utilise and completely rely on solar and wind energy sources.

Solar panels can be added to the roof to generate electricity for the home, with roofs often angled toward the sun to enable photovoltaic panels to capture energy efficiently. Solar water heaters are a cost-effective way of generating hot water for the household, while air-source heat pumps can be used to remove unwanted heat from the interior of the house. Small-scale wind turbines can also be employed to generate electricity, with their effectiveness determined by the wind conditions at the site.

As you can see, sustainable architecture provides not only an eco-friendly alternative to traditional construction techniques but also added energy efficiency and superior style to boot. There?s no doubt that sustainable architecture is the way of the future and will become more prevalent as the concern for the environment grows.
