WETEX-2018 Showcasing clean energy solutions in the Middle East

by Rohan Kapur | 13-08-2018 18:53

Solar energy is one of the most preferred energy sources in the Middle East. Due to the region's unique geographic location around the solar belt, it receives a large amount of solar radiation. It is logical to boost research and development in this area to promote energy security and sustainability as the most important forms of safe, unlimited energy. It is a source that does not cause any carbon emissions, which makes it healthy and environmentally friendly. This form of energy reduces our dependence on traditional sources of energy, which damage the environment and use up natural resources. And it is never ending, no cost involved & least explored. Day-by-day It is becoming cheaper to generate solar energy.

The 20th Water, Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2018), is organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to review the latest innovative, renewable and clean energy solutions and technologies. WETEX, the largest exhibition of its kind in the region, coincides with the third Dubai Solar Show, which highlights the latest innovations in the solar sector, displays the region's largest solar projects and provides a unique platform for building partnerships with all government and private sectors to develop innovative energy solutions.

These two events will be held from 23 to 25 October 2018 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. It will cover approximately 14,000 square metres, attracting 125 exhibitors and over 10 sponsors from around the world.

Through its stand at the exhibition, DEWA will review its efforts in research, development and innovation in the field of solar energy, in addition to its major solar projects, notably the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is the largest single-site solar park in the world that uses the IPP model. It will produce 1,000 MW by 2020 and 5,000 MW by 2030, with a total investment of AED50 billion. When completed, the project will achieve a reduction of approximately 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

UAE has planned extensively to invest in clean energy & to produce Solar energy in the near future. In order to meet the planned standards, the participation of all public & private sector is important. Such events are great investment boosters and it also helps to share the latest knowledge and innovations among the world at a single platform.
