The Paradigm Challenge is a STEM based international competition for youth. As you may have seen in a previous post, our innovation, titled Pro-BIO has been awarded a finalist position in the theme of waste management two years ago. More details can be seen here: https://tunza.eco-generation.org/ambassadorReportView.jsp?viewID=42967&searchType=title&searchName=pro-bio&pageNumber=1 This next year's competition theme has already been announced and it too is closely tied with Tunza's mission statement and goals. For food security, if not managed properly, leads to degradation in the natural environment through improper waste control, or over extraction of the natural resources that are already going down at an enormous rate. Food security can be tiered to four pillars, which are the following: Availability Access Utilization Stability If not managed properly, not only are socioeconomic factors at extreme risk but environmental ones as well, for sustainability encompasses all of these (see sustainability compass for reference). To quote the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, ?Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.? More details about the competition can be obtained from their website here: http://www.projectparadigm.org/challenge#food The Paradigm Challenge is extremely beneficial in the way that it gives a step by step process in how to come up with a solution as well as provides resources for your general research.
