Microplastics in our mussels: the sea is feeding human garbage back to us

by | 09-06-2018 14:25

A new report found the seafood contains an alarming amount of plastic – and in fact no sea creature is immune. It?s as if the ocean is wreaking its revenge.Shellfish is like the natural filter of our seas and those that were brought to the supermarkets in UK were found contaminated with microplastics. It is completely horrendous that 89% of marine trash comes from single used plastics. The ocean plastics are finding their way into our food chain and ultimately our bodies. Its hard to know how much microplastics are we consuming from fish.Considering that this year's Theme for the World Environment day was to beat plastic pollution , we can all contribute to a better world .... a pollution free land, sea and air.We must all try to use minimum plastic and adopt more eco friendly methods like paper bags etc.
