![]() Just a few days ago, I was privileged as a Tunza eco generation ambassador to be a delegate at one of Nigeria's topmost drug policy and youth-led organization " Youthrise Nigeria" on a programme tagged "youth centered drug policy in Nigeria". The programme put together youth representatives of youth-led organizations, NGOs, staffs of government agencies, SDG focused organizations and a host of others to discuss the drug policy situation here in Nigeria, harmful drugs and drug substitutes and how the youths are reacting to the current drug policy and enforcement in the country. This topic certainly has to do with youths because most youths use drugs (synthetic and natural), most times these drugs are food supplements and other times curatives. Drug use is good but drug abuse and dependency is a serious issue amongst today's youth according to Nonso Maduka a graduate of pharmacy from UNN. We need to watch what we take into our bodies and to what percentage. Drug consumption should be gauged as food consumption is, we must not neglect any communication signs our bodies are giving to us because we get these warning signs before the body eventually breaks down. Finally, drug use if not properly monitored can lead to dependency, it is a circle process. First we use drugs because we need to or for recreation and if not controlled can lead to a sickness or allergy, then we continue to take another drug, then dependency sets in and we can't stop this leads to drug abuse and then we come back again to using drugs cause we need them to become our normal self. So in all, do things in moderation, and listen to your body.
