BIODIVERSITY IN SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY

Did you know that this coming 22nd May is a World Biodiversity Day? May be you knew this but you did not note it somewhere in your agenda. What will you contribute as a friend of environment on this day? Think about it.

After noticing that World Biodiversity day is soon coming, I Yves SHEMA, the 20th eco generation ambassador to Rwanda, in the name of Tunza eco generation- I conducted a campaign on 5th May 2018 with a theme of ?Biodiversity in sustainable development of the country?. With a help of Regina Pacis (Tumba) High school that gave me 14 top students that are In the environmental Club, so that I can teach them about the importance of Biodiversity in killing poverty by maintaining the development of the country. And with a help of UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA Huye campus, that provided me a room with projector that helped me to teach those students fluently. Ooh I cannot forget that the University allowed me with my students, to make a field trip in Arboretum research forest, after the theory. The field trip had a purpose seeing how organism there interacts with each other, and what benefits do they give to the country (Rwanda).

We arrived at University of Rwanda Huye campus, at 19h45? Am, we moved to the class, to which I was going to give them a power point presentation which had the following content.

  • What is tunza eco generation?
  • Can everyone be a member of TUNZA?
  • What is environment?
  • Why environmental studies?
  • Why we should be Eco-leaders?
  • What is Biodiversity?
  • Can Biodiversity sustain the country development?
  • Watching documentary videos that show the importance of Biodiversity in Rwanda.
  • Field trip in arboretum research forest located in RUHANDE, Huye district- Rwanda.

I gave them leaflets so that they can know a little on Tunza HISTORY. We shared pens and rulers as well as bag that tunza gave me in promotional goods. If you need the teaching material I used in building these 14 future eco-leaders; please contact me on shema.yveson42@gmail.com .

Finally I would like to give special thanks to:

  • Eco-generation team that offered those promotional goods I used.
  • United nation environmental program that give a big hand tunza-eco generation.
  • Samsung engineering
  • Regina Pacis Tumba High school
  • UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA Huye campus.
