Deforestation has been the pressing challenge which had massive threat to environmental well-being and development in Somaliland since the devastation of Siyad Barre regime. With poor environmental conservation and awareness raising activities, people have been practising to cut down trees for income generation for their poor families. The country has never had any environmental conservation government institution which encourages local companies to deliver goals which lower these massive environmental operations which aim to clear all trees without replacing them.

The opening ceremony hosted government officials, civil society organizations, youth groups, INGOs working on environmental protection and other high-level guests who jointly welcomed this service which will save millions of trees in Somaliland. The Executive Director of HASS Petroleum in Somaliland Mr. Abdirisaaq Ibrahim stated that HASS GAS will play leading role in all the efforts targeted to reduce environmental catastrophes and illegal activities that harm trees and biodiversity in the country.

The Minister of Environment and Rural Development of Somaliland has also congratulated HASS Petroleum for the delivery of this innovative and environmentally-friendly service where she encouraged Somaliland people to buy HASS Gas with its cheaper price. The minister H.E. Mrs Shukri Bandare also calls Somaliland people for participating reforestation activities led by her ministry and suggested them to take this message seriously.
