![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On the occasion of Good Deeds Day (April 15th, 2018), Nepal Friendship Society in collaboration with International Good Deeds Day organized High Street Cleanup Program at Bharatpur, Chitwan. The youngest volunteer on the event, Abal Poudle who is only 12years old handed over t-shirt to guest of honor Bharat Pokhrel from Bharatpur Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Board. Guest of honor conveyed special thanks to the organizing team and International Good Deeds Day team for organizing this event. For the first time in Nepal, Good Deeds Day was celebrated on 2017 April 2nd. It was celebrated in only one city i.e. at Bharatpur in Nepal. And this year, Good Deeds Day is celebrated at 15 different cities in Nepal. Major cities like at Pokhara, Kathmandu, Bharatpur, Nawalpur etc. have celebrated this day by organizing various events like street cleanup program, blood donation, plantation program and so on. From Nepal, Nabin Kharel and Bishal Koirala participated on Conference of Good Deeds Day on 2017. Nabin Kharel shared his experience about the conference. Nabin Kharel said that, "Good deeds day can be celebrated by doing small works like Blood donation, sanitation, plantation etc. from which we can bring smiles on the faces of other people." Similarly, event coordinator Birendra Poudel thanked all the volunteers who participated on the event. This year, Good deeds day was celebrated on 07:00AM at local time in 100 countries. About Event: At first, we cleaned the park, picked up all the wastes and wrappers from the park. And made the park neat and clean. Parks provide intrinsic environmental, aesthetic, and recreation benefits to our cities. They are also a source of positive economic benefits. They enhance property values, increase municipal revenue, bring in homebuyers and workers, and attract retirees. These parks should be made clean and greener. And then we started the high street cleanup event. Wastes from drainage system were removed. We also counsel the house owners over the area for proper disposal of waste and its management. The pedestrians were amazed by our work. They also started to pick up the wastes with us and volunteered with us although we were unknown. The rally started from Baseni chowk, Bharatpur and ended at the chowk near Aaptari. The event last long for one hour. About 40people actively participated on the event. This event also promotes the SDG6. It calls for clean water and sanitation for all people. The official wording is: "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all." The goal has eight targets to be achieved by at least 2030. Progress toward the targets will be measured by using eleven "indicators. I would like to thank President of Nepal Friendship Society, Birendra Poudel who coordinated the event and also to all the volunteers. My special thanks to Good Deeds Day initiator, businesswoman and philanthropist, Shari Arison. I am proud to be a part of this event and of course, Tunza was also a part of this event too. I hope, I'll coordinate the next Good Deeds Day event on April 7th 2018 in Nepal. Change is possible. Let's not pollute the environment. Let's do something good for the betterment of the world. Save Environment, Save Life. 😊 😊 Thank You 😊 😊 About Good Deeds Day: Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world. The Vision: Good Deeds Day was initiated in 2007 by businesswoman and philanthropist, Shari Arison, and launched and organized by Ruach Tova (NGO), a part of The Ted Arison Family Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Arison Group. "I believe that if people will think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the world. Good Deeds Day has become the leading day of giving and this year individuals, school children, students, soldiers and employees from many businesses are joining in for the annual Good Deeds Day with the aim of doing a good deed for others," says Shari Arison. The Evolution of Good Deeds Day: Good Deeds Day is taking over the world! Since its launch in 2007, this annual tradition of good has grown from 7,000 participants in 2007 in Israel to almost 1 million in 2015. Going global in 2011 with 10 international cities, including many in the USA, Good Deeds Day began uniting people all over the world. In 2012, we reached Europe and teamed up with MTV Global for a six-week-campaign on its online and TV platforms, exposing the message to 24 million viewers around the world. In 2013, 16,000 volunteers from 50 countries took part in hundreds of projects, including a kick off with ABC Network in NYC. Next, Good Deeds Day doubled in reach in 2014, partnering for the second year in a row with ABC Network NYC, and collaborating with leading volunteer organizations as part of a grand scale campaign involving TV, radio, and social media. 500,000 people took part in Israel and some 35,000 globally. Good Deeds Day continued to gain momentum and held its largest day yet on April 2, 2017. 2,500,000 participants from 93 countries took part in 20,000 projects, totaling over 6.7 million hours of service. Save The Dates! Good Deeds Day 2019 will take place on April 7. Good Deeds Day 2020 will take place on March 29. More on: |
