Nepal is considered the second largest country for the water resources in world. Nepal being the agriculture country these resources is primary factor for the development. Haphazard use of the water resources has degraded their condition which has adverse effect in the natural bio-diversity of the country and adversely affected the agri-status. Total renewable water resources of country is estimated to be 237 km3/yr. water resources in Nepal is maintained by 3,252 glacier with total coverage of 5,323 km2, 2323 glacial lakes with coverage area of 75.70 km2 , 6000 rivers, rivulets, tributaries with the cumulative length of  45,000 km, enclosed water body with 5, 358 lakes and 12 Km3 estimated groundwater. The abundant natural resources most mis-utilised hence Water resource at present need more holistic and coordinated approach for their sustainable development. Climate change has affected the snow cover of the water resources which has increased the water level but also decreased water table in long run which affect the irrigation facility for the agricultural land in the country. Nepal water resources are being wasted and has not been fully utilized during irrigation being lost of around 70-80%. Sewage disposal, use in the industry, water pollution has affected the water resources in the country. Water re-use technology, better irrigation system, water supporting cropping pattern in agriculture, recycling of the water, minimizing water content, Forestation, reservoir etc could be government applied management practices. Management practices should start from grass root level and conserve the water before it is too late.
