The bike path in São Paulo City

by Luiz Bispo | 06-07-2015 09:00 recommendations 0

As people already know, car is one of the factors of air pollution. Is there any way to reduce the number of transportation for environment? If a large population should move or travel in a vast land such as Brazil, I think, people need the vehicles anyway. Here is an interesting project in Sao Paulo, which could be a solution for this issue.

The lane for bikes has completed at Paulista Avenue in São Paulo in Brazil. This bike path is 2.7 miles long and secure. The São Paulo city follows the global trend of more efficient mobility for the public. In particular, people who think that car is safer due to the violence outside will feel security even with the bikes. In fact, it is natural that people are afraid of riding the bike among cars on the road. There are many tragedies that cyclists die of car accidents or be a disabled.

Furthermore, it is expected that people using a bike will have a physical activity and bike can be an important tool for vendors and carriers as well.

In 1997, there was a plan to make the bike track and announced it again in June 2014 by Fernando Haddad again. The project was supposed to create 400 km of track until December 2016 but the pace of this construction has processed very quickly. At this moment, the cycling street already has the length of the 451miles and is located broadly such as bus terminals and subway stations.

The bike track exists not only in São Paulo but also other countries. Encouraging the use of bicycles is happening in other countries cities such as New York, Paris and Bogota as well. In particular, Bogota (the capital of Colombia) has 392 km of cycle paths and 232 of them were built between 1998 and 2000. The recent report says that more than 86.431 tons of carbon dioxide is no longer generated in the Colombian capital.

It is true that whenever I see the cyclists at the road, they seem unstable. Some drivers do not care them and put the bikers in danger. If the safe bike track is made, the number of users of bike will be increased quickly. I expect that the more people prefer to ride a bicycle so that we could live in Brazil that has fresh air and environmental-friendly cities.

Thank you for sharing the eye-opening great news, Luiz :D The highway looks like somewhere in Europe. The biggest obstacle for popularization of bicycle was the lack of lanes built only for bicycles. Now the riders can safely enjoy riding bicycle to work and to school. Great!
