Echoes of Rio+20

by | 28-02-2013 07:19 recommendations 0

The Earth Summit dubbed Rio+20, you know if there has been a conference about the environment with a grand agenda and hopeful !--object--ives and expectations, no conference comes close to the way The earth Summit: Rio+20 was planned out and arranged.
Its !--object--ives were so clear and covered all the loopholes of our current situation which is Environmental degradation and all things said leads to the breakdown of economies, nations, homes, habitat etc.. a chain of things.
So here i was thinking since Rio+20 had such a great agenda why then did it fail to come through... it was a solid agenda i think and if they saw it didn't work out as expected why drop it and go make something else, if you believe in something you will go to the ends of the earth to make sure it is fulfilled, maybe the problem is here we don't believe in our agendas to arrest our current situation that's why year after year we always look forward to go in a little room to discuss they way forward.
If we prepare a great agenda and base the entire conference on it, and the outcome isn't as expected all there is to it is review it, see what didn't work and phrase it differently maybe or even change it.
The host country Brazil is thriving- so to speak on the Green Economy and sustainable development, if she can do it what is stopping the entire world?

Potential is there, solutions are bountiful and if we keep postponing to another year one day we wont have as year to adjourn those meetings to and when we realise that we'll panic, in a moment we'll solve what has taken decades and you know what it'll be too late.
The time is now, but please remember don't drop the ball on Rio+20, it was a tree of vision,The Future We Want.

very true. all we need now is commitment and actions, commitment from those whose actions threat to environment and commitments from those whose actions can save environment..commitment for betterment and commitment for sustainability... not only in papers but also in actions and implementation..

Yep! There hasn't been much progess on Rio +20 lately. I guess it's becuase most countries, especially developing ones are more concerned on economic growth rather than the environment. They should learn that sustainable development is much better than strong economic growth in the long term. :)
