Clean up Party ( Part2 )

by Xilola Kayumova | 27-09-2016 09:15 recommendations 0

The 2nd one was kind of a contest. Before the party, I had prepared 2 empty posters with the writings ' 1st group/ 1-guruh' on 1 poster and '2nd group/ 2-gurup' on the other one. I explained the following rules to all the participants:
  - you will have 5 minutes to describe what you think when you hear the word 'nature.'

You will only have 1 pencil for each group and you will learn about team-building.

When I asked the kids if they understood the rules, all of them said yes and we were ready to start the game. I started the timer and the pencils started moving in the little hands of those cute kids. Each participant tried to be active and kept on giving new ideas about 'nature.' When the timer rang, the posters were full with beautiful drawings of our nature. I asked my groupmates to become judges for a small period of time and they agreed. They had 3 minutes to diacuss and after 3 minutes, I asked them to tell the winners of the drawing contest.

My groupmates told me that the 2nd group's drawing looked richer and more beautiful than the drawing of the 1st group. I gathered all the members and said 'Both groups did a great job on drawing the nature. All thecparticipants are winners, but we had to choose only 1 group because our Korean friends sent gifts only for the members of 1 group.

I announced the winner group and called the main artists of the drawing. I had some small souvenirs bought in America and I decided to give them away. 1 boy and 1 girl came up to me. I gave some of my souvenirs, post-its and leaflets to the winners. We had some more sweets left and I gave 5 candies for both of the winners.

The next activity was 'Good for the nature/ Bad for the nature.' 1 week before the party, I prepared a poster with a big tree. Half of the tree was green and beautiful and as you may have guessed, this was 'Good for the nature' side.

The other side, which had a picture of the dying tree was 'Bad for the nature' side. I have written some things that bring advantages to nature such aa 'watering trees,' 'planting flowers' and so on and some disadvantages brought to the nature such as 'littering the water,' 'burning woods' and so on.

My friend had a ball. She threw the ball to each participant and if the little kid caught the ball, he/she had to come, read the sticky-note and decide which side it belongs to. When I saw some younger kids  struggle with reading, I helped them. Each participant read the note and I pronounced the English translation. This, also was a very fun activity.

After this last activity, we atarted saying the pledge I have prepared. It was as following:   I, as the child of my free country, promise to never harm the nature of my motherland. I promise to live green life and be an eco friendly person. I will not take a shower in rivers! I will not do laundry in the rivers! I will try to plant as many trees as I can!

After the pledge, we strted the awarding ceremony. I called the community leader and awarded her with an eco bag. Me, my friends and kids thanked her for a nice speech. I promised that I would give certificates to the three most active participants of the event, but we had some problems with printing them. So, I gave the certificates in my lyceum and this was the end of our Clean up Party.

Kids thanked my friends and my friends thanked me.
We were all happy...
