Introduction of Tunza Eco-generation club in rural schools.

by | 21-08-2017 03:46 recommendations 1

In July and August this year, I have been able to get members of the Tunza eco-generation club. The process started by voting and essay competitions that ran for a period of three weeks. Children had interesting essays that everyone that wrote an essay had an idea about the environment. The winners of the essay competitions in each school were given prizes some of which included bags, Tunza pens and also an honorable hand shake from the Tunza Ecogeneration Ambassador.  The essay winners also became the leaders of the club.

It was so sad that in some schools that are in rural areas, children had no any slightest idea about environmental conservation and protection. It was a pleasure for me to reach to these schools and introduce children to this. Children asked a lot of questions that were answered and they enthusiastically welcomed the idea of the Tunza Eco-generation club. I have been in closer touch with these clubs and of recent children have started compositing environmental poems and stickers to be hanged around the school compound to increase awareness.

Under these clubs, I wish to introduce them to weekly environmental activities including awareness within their mates in and outside the class, birthday tree project, and in class competitions.

Well-done Juanita Babirye. You've done an amazing job with those kids and you've sown a seed that would yield great fruit and produce a generation of environmentally conscious young citizens.

A great initiative mate. Children are the future of our world and unless they are aware of the climatic and environmental issues our world is facing, the dream of clean and green future cannot be acheived. An appreciable effort from your side to encourage young minds in this issues. Hope that I and others will be able to do so too.
