One horned rhino

Alluvial flood-plain with vegetation of sub-tropical climates where water and green grass is available all year round is my home.
I lived there with pleasure from time immemorial. Then there came time when human masked by his all greed knew the medicinal and economic value of my horns and skin and began to hunt me for my hides and for fun as well. The story does not end up with hunting.
He cleared the forest for expanding agricultural development.Human and livestock encroachment destroyed my home.Human induced climate change, deforestation, poaching and sport hunting reduced our range. The region around
chitwan National park of Nepal is our best habitat and we are found mostly in Indian sub-continent region.we are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.Once upon a time we lived throughout the Indo-Gangetic plain but our range reduced
drastically to northern India and southern Nepal.
Today Translocation is being done for long term Servival of rhino. It's being translocated to Suklaphata wildlife reserve and Bardiya Nationalpark. The no.of rhinos in Nepal has drastically increased from 100 to 600.
Rhinoceros unicornis has been listed in CITES Appendix I since 1975.

If the trend continues animals like rhino may servive only in exsitu conservation sites like zoos and gene bank and others will live happily ever after in photographs and mythical anecdotes never again to dwell in the green planet earth.
We still celebrate animal days and speak out strong slogan but our animals are still poached and tortured.

Hi, Dibya! Your report, written from the viewpoint of a rhino, is very moving and has a strong impact. Thinking about the endangerment of animals from the animal's point of view allows us to immediately know how dire and serious the problem is. People need to realize that human greed alone is putting these animals' lives into danger. I hope that someday, people will become aware and will respect the lives and existence of these animals. Great work on your report!

Hi, Dibya. Action speaks louder than words. We need to do meaningful action toward protecting endangered species. It might be too late or too hard to rescue them from disaster completely but we could make it gradually through careful concerns and practical actions. For rhino and other animals... Thanks for your sharing!
