Dear Eco-generation friends, We would like to provide information about the Activity Point System of Eco-generation. When you sign-in, you can see the accrued points like the image below.
By checking the accrued points, you can visually know how much active you are in the Eco-generation platform. You can see the list of activity and applied points via the table below here.
Every January 1st, the activity point system goes back zero and re-starts so that you can check your activeness by annual base. Also the activity point system plays important role in events and competitions as one of the most important criteria. You can see some examples of the use of points in the table below here.

Article of Global Warming
Global warming has become a serious environmental problem which threatens to put the future of humankind in peril. According to experts, the major factor behind this rising phenomena of excessive emissions of carbon dioxide, as well as other greenhouse gases could lead to the flooding of lower lying coastal areas and also cities. It is even feared that some countries might even disappear completely in near future. Another worrisome fallout of global warming manifests in the changes in the weather patterns leading to severe weather conditions, drought, floods, and other uncommon extreme weather conditions.
Reasons for Global Warming
The biggest culprit is Carbon dioxide (CO2), a major constituent of the environment. It is causing a warming effect on the Earth??s surface area by increasing the evaporation of water into the atmosphere. Now water vapours itself being a greenhouse gas, this aggravates warming further due to the heating of more water vapour to be evaporated. The CO2 levels are unlikely to come down in the wake of the continuing burning of fossil fuels. Apart from CO2, Sulphur, CFCs, and Methane are also contributing to global warming.
Reasons of Global Warming
Over-exploitation of natural resources, coupled with population growth, technological advancement, industrialization, urbanization, and deforestation are also leading to increase in the production of these gases. Even when we cook food, we produce a huge amount of CO2. We are over-utilizing technologies, burning fossil fuels, coal, lubricate, and gas. When gasoline is burned in internal-combustion motor of automobiles, it produces huge emission. Besides, Sulphur has formed a cluster resulting in adverse impact on environmental pollution.
Steps to curb Global Warming
Several measures are required to curb the problem of global warming. We can contribute towards less production of CO2 by adopting renewable energy instead of consuming oil, coal and gas. Tree plantation is another way-out as we know that trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. We will also do well to use less energy and to recycle more products. Especially, we should reduce our over-dependence on electricity as it is one of the main sources of carbon dioxide.
Conclusion
We can save Planet Earth, only by tackling the problem of global warming. Let??s resolve to reduce the production of CO2. The way to do it is to less use of oil, coal and gas. Rather we should embrace renewable energy. Let us reduce our dependence on electricity, as its production releases a huge amount of CO2 simultaneously. So, less use of energy and electricity can help us in dealing with the problem of global warming. We have to avoid producing a great amount of CO2, Sulphur, CFCs, and Methane gases as they are harmful to the environment. A massive tree plantation drive should be undertaken as trees soak up CO2 and at the same time trees generate more oxygen.
There is also the need for going for plant-derived plastics, biodiesel, wind power and solar power. At individual levels, people should prefer buying cars with the best fuel economy, and should not unnecessarily use them

I totally agree with - Sergio Alejandro Urioste Daza who mentioned in one of his comments
about the 'QUALITY' of comments posted by individuals. He gave examples of poor quality comments such as: 'Hi', 'I'm so excited' etc. when posted unnecessarily.
This system is a great and innovative one to capture the attention of the 'fresh' generation - However, it can be unfair in a selection process if not carefully analyzed.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Analyze each persons profile carefully and check for meaningful comments, articles etc. and allow these persons to keep points they deserve.
I also believe 'connector' would be a great idea. A friend referred me to sign up for this event. I believe he should be rewarded for his effort.

How about the quality of comments? Many people cheat by just posting short comments with no information or just posts like "hi" "thank you" "I am so excited". This point politic is very useful to look for activities and incentive the interchange of experiences and knowledge, but not to recruit youth leaders. Many of us don't have the enough point to post, because we are involve in many other activities. However, everytime I post I try to give the best from me.

@Tunza Eco- generation- I appreciate this unique idea of Activity Point system. It has many reliable aspects to find out the most active member. But I would to suggest one thing, why not to allow same points for multiple comments in same post. I mean allowing only 2 points for comments in a single post irresponsible of how many times the comments are made. In my view it will be more reliable system. Just a opinion of mine :)

for me, it is a very good move to give credits to the Eco-gen youths who will participate in the Monthly Events and Competitions. We just had our Human Rights Day on December 10th. It is very interesting how we celebrated our Human Rights Day as we, the whole world, showed respect to one of the greatest Human Rights leaders, Mr. Nelson Mandela. If we are to truly respect every human rights, we should be kind to earth and prevent more natural disasters happening to innocent people. Respecting human rights extends to respecting our environment. I think.

The World Bank, United Nations and many other countries are helping Philippines government rebuild. So, we might think that is enough help. But, I would argue that it is not enough. We all should remind our friends and families to help. UNICEF seems to be a great place to give our help.

I am very excited to be part of Tunza. I have studied with a great intest this site for years. However, this is my first year that I was old enough to sign on and participate. So, here I am. One of my greatest interests is Climate Change and finding real, practical solutions to fight Climate Change. One of the ideas I have is how we all can reduce foodprint. We, even as young people, can reduce foodprint or reduce food waste to save our natural resources and champion for the healthier earth. I wold love to hear other ideas from you all about how we, even as young people, can fight the Global Warming and champion for our earth.

However, when I learned about the recent Super Typhoon Haiyan and other most terrible natural disasters are caused by the ongoing Climate Change and our unwillingness to change our course of action to correct and fight the Climate Change, I felt obligated to do something as a concerned citizen of the world. and also, many times, to avoid a very long comment, i break it into small focused comments.will you keep me in disadvantaged list? how will someone know if he or she is in that list? i have over 550 points now, but not because i m just commenting for getting points, nowadays, i m at home because of winter holidays, so i have a lot of time and i read all the posts. to verify, you can check that i started reading them even before 1st jan , and even commented , knowing that points will be reset.

@SalilKumar You don't have to worry about accumulated points. Because all the points will start from Zero on every Jan 1st. So, all the users can start from the Zero Base.
And when we select qualified person for any event, we put importance on the quality of the works but also on how he or she engaged well in our community.

Doubt 2- If a Competition is announced where I don't have the talent. Whereas my Friend is completely talented in the same. So, I suggest him to join and participate but as per your Point System he will stand nowhere inspite of his immense talent because he won't have the points in his account. Therefore, Is the upcoming Competions are only for existing old users??
Please clarify my Doubts ??

Point system is great but I have two doubts.
1- Suppose in a competion my piece of work is better than a person X but he has more points than me. Then how will You decide whom to give the prize ?? Above u said dat u will fix some proportion, think if we both are tied then?? Will u see the QUALITY/EFFORT or mere POINTS ?

@Mahsinur, Hi! Just for your information, you can write an article on World Report bulletin any time you want. That means you can easily accrue your points by writing a world environmental news of your region. :^)

@Christy: The "posting an article" points should not be given cause> only the ambassadors would be able to do so,not us. I don't think giving points for fulfilling one's duty as an ambassador is a necessary at all.

Dear Eco generation
I am really happy with the new system but i believe that their should be a small change in the point system My suggestion is as follows -:
The points given for comments should be reduced to only 5 points per comment and maximum of 5 points can only be awarded to the comment for an article.I believe that breaking one comment into ten parts and posting and securing 50 points doesn't make sense and moreover the motive becomes only to secure points rather than gaining knowledge
So please do the needful.
