Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22nd to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote actions to protect the planet.

Earth Day serves as a reminder that we must all take responsibility for our impact on the environment and work together to address theses challenges. it provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and governments to come together and take action to protect our planet.

There are many small actions that individuals can take to save the environment. Here are some examples:

1- Use eco friendly products - Choosing products that are made from sustainable materials, have minimal packaging, and are free of harmful chemicals can help reduce our impact on the environment.

2- Use of reusable bags and reusable bottle/tumbler - using eco friendly reusable bags while shopping can reduce the single use plastic bags. I also use my reusable bottle/tumbler wherever I go to avoid using the bottled water.

3- Use of Public Transportation and Carpool: Cars are a major source of greenhouse gam emissions, so using public transport, walking or biking can significantly reduce our carbon footprints.

4- Save Energy - There are many ways to save energy at home, such as turning off lights and appliances when not in use. It's simple yet effective step to save energy and environment.

5- Reduce waste- This can be done by avoiding single use items, recycling, composting food waste and buying products with minimal packaging.

6- Eat a plant-based diet - Consuming less meat and dairy products can significantly reduce our carbon footprints.

7- Support local business - Buying locally grown and produced products reduces the environmental impact of transportation.

These are just a few examples of small actions that individuals can take to save the environment. Every action, no matter how small, can make a difference in protection our planet for future generations.

The need to protect the environment has never been more urgent. Our planet is facing a myriad of environmental problems, including climate change, pollution, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity. These issues are caused by human activities such as burning fossil fuels, industrialization, and unsustainable agriculture.

It is our responsibility to take action to protect our planet. We can do this by making small changes in our daily lives, such as reducing our carbon footprint by walking or biking instead of driving, using energy-efficient appliances, and reducing our consumption of single-use plastics. We can also support policies and initiatives that promote sustainability and protect the environment, such as investing in renewable energy, protecting forests and oceans, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

There are numerous ways to help our mother nature and I would love to share some of them which I also follow in my day to day life.

1- By Educating and Spreading Awareness about Climate Change and Climate Crisis- I love educating children and youth about climate Change and climate crisis through Environmental awareness and leadership programs and Plant-for-the-planet Planet academies. I have been organizing such awareness programs since a very long time.
In April 2023, I along with my team have organized five Plant-for-the-planet academies and educated 430 children about climate change and climate crisis. Plant-for-the-planet academies are day long activity for children aged 9-12, where we train children as Climate Justice Ambassadors.
You can see a glimpse of our recent Plant-for-the-planet academy by following this link-

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/CrU_zbHt0gU/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

2- By supporting Environmental organizations and movements- We can do out bit by supporting other Environmental organizations and movements around us. I believe together we can make a difference.

3- By Planting trees- Planting trees is one of the easiest and the best idea to save our environment. I always plant trees on my birthday and also encourage my friends and family members to do the same on their birthday's. Even at the end of our Environmental awareness and leadership programs and Plant-for-the-planet academies we have a tradition of planting trees as a symbol of climate justice.

4- Buying Locally and sustainably- I buy locally grown and sustainably produced products whenever possible to reduce the environmental impact of transportation and production.

5- By using reusable bags and bottles- I always use reusable bags, water bottles, and containers instead of single-use plastics to reduce waste.

6- By using Public transport- I use public transportation when possible to reduce the number of vehicles on the road and the amount of emissions released into the air.

7- By using energy wisely- I always turn off lights and appliances when not in use, use energy-efficient bulbs and appliances, and unplug electronics when not in use. Such small acts can make a big difference and save a lot of energy.

8- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: I always try my bbest to reduce the amount of waste I generate, reuse items whenever possible, and recycle whenever I can.

9- By Conserving Water: I turn off the tap when I brush my teeth, take shorter showers, fix any leaks, and reuse water when possible.

Saving our environment is not just important for the survival of the planet, but also for our own well-being and Earth Day is an important reminder of our duty to protect the environment. We must take action to save our planet from the environmental problems caused by human activities.

By adopting eco friendly habits in our daily lives, we can make a significant contribution to saving the environment. I trulybelieve that every small action counts, and together, we can make a big difference.

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 every year to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and to encourage people to take action to address environmental issues. It is a day to reflect on our relationship with nature and the impact we have on the environment.

There are many things we can do to help restore our Earth, such as reducing our carbon footprint, using renewable energy, conserving water, and supporting sustainable practices. We can also take action to protect wildlife and their habitats, reduce waste, and promote recycling.

I would like to share some of the habits that I have adopted in my lifestyle to help save our planet-

    * I Support Sustainable Practices: I buy products made from sustainable materials and support companies that follow environmentally-friendly practices and also consider purchasing locally-grown produce to reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation.

    * Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: This is a mantra we can all adopt to reduce our waste. Reduce the amount of waste you produce by buying only what you need. Reuse items like bags, containers, and bottles instead of buying new ones and recycle as much as possible.

    * I use energy very wisely and turn off the lights and appliances when not in use. I also use efficient light bulbs and appliances.

    * I try my best to Conserve Water. I always fix leaky faucets and take shorter showers. I am also using a low flow shower head and toilet and recently started water my lawn and garden in the morning or evening to reduce evaporation.

    * I prefer Green Transportation, whenever and wherever possible and I use public transportation, bike or walk instead of driving alone.

    * I always plant trees on my birthday or any other occasions and encourage people around me to do the same. Planting trees not only helps the environment by providing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide, but it also helps beautify your surroundings.

    * I use Reusable Bags and Containers and always bring my own reusable bags and containers when shopping or getting take-out to reduce the amount of single-use plastic waste.

    * I also aware and educate people around me and spread my message to save the environment. I believe in the power of collective actions and if we all start doing our bit to save the environment, we all can together make a huge difference.

These are just a few examples of small habits that I have adopted to save our environment. By making these changes in our daily lives, we can all do our part to help protect the planet for future generations.

Events like Earth Day or World Environment Day is a reminder that we all have a responsibility to protect our planet and that small actions can make a big difference. By working together, we can create a more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.

Our planet, our beautiful home, has been affected by the beings that are supposed to take care of it and protect it: we, the human being. Throughout our history, we have been developing numerous unsustainable activities that have caused the destruction of immense territories and ecosystems. As children of Mother Earth, we have been very ungrateful and cruel. However, it is not too late to remedy our damage; there is still time and hope.

There are many things we can do every day for the well-being of our mother Earth and thus celebrate Earth Day not only on April 22 but every day. Among these things, which I also do, are the following:

    1. Educate. In our societies, we are all educators. We all play a very important role in educating not only our children but also all members of society. Our actions can teach much better than a theoretical class on environmental care. So let's try to make green habits in the streets so that other people also learn and practice them.

To contribute to environmental education in my region, I created educational materials for children. These materials comprise a set of readings on environmental issues, games, and dynamic activities made in PowerPoint. My objective is to provide children with the knowledge, values, and attitudes that will help them make informed decisions about how to deal with environmental and social problems and motivate them to take positive action.

    2. Participate in platforms that seek to care for the environment and promote sustainable development. Participating in these types of platforms is very important, as they give us opportunities to carry out our work on a larger scale and reach a wider audience. In this way, we achieve a greater impact on society. Platforms, such as Tunza Eco Generation, allow us to learn to teach, connect, and share with peers who have the same goals as us, promote environmental care and sustainable development through different activities and events, and develop as environmental leaders.

Currently, I participate in several platforms and programs that seek to promote environmental care and sustainable development, among them Tunza Eco Generation, ClimateScience, NAAEE, and the Mining Integration Program (to promote sustainable mining activity).

    3. Plogging. I learned about this wonderful practice in Tunza Eco Generation, and although I was already doing it before, I did not know its name or denomination. Plogging consists of picking up trash while walking, jogging, or running. It is a very fun practice that you can do with family or friends. I usually do it when I go with my siblings to walk our dogs.

    4. Rethink, reuse, reduce, and recycle. These practices can greatly help our mother Earth. Before we buy something, let's think about whether we really need it. Many times, we buy without thinking. Let's reuse everything we can; let's give a second use to our belongings. Let's reduce our consumption and recycle as much as possible.

    5. Planting. This is one of my favorite practices that I do with my family. At home, we have a small garden that provides us with various foods such as potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, pumpkin, etc. Also, in our village, we plant trees next to our crops, recreating small agroforestry systems.

Change is in our hands. Our actions count, no matter how small they are.

Let's celebrate Mother Earth Day not only on April 22 but every day by practicing green habits.

Earth Day is a worldwide event that occurs annually on April, 22. It celebrates the environmental diversity of Earth and highlights ways of protecting our planet.

When we hear terms like "code red for humanity" and "climate change", it can feel difficult to focus on the small actions individuals and communities can take to address the climate crisis. But Earth Day strives to highlight how everyone can be part of the change.

Read on to learn more about Earth Day, its importance and how we can make a difference through small actions or community involvement. (Source: https://www.space.com/earth-day-facts-history-activities)
Below are the things we can adhere to protect our planet:
    1. Educate. By continuing your education, you may educate others about the significance and worth of our natural resources.

2.Volunteer. Participate in community cleanups by volunteering. You may participate in preserving your watershed as well.

    3. Tree planting. Air and food are produced by trees. They aid in energy conservation, air purification, and climate change mitigation.

    4. Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room!

    5. Think "reduce, reuse, recycle" Reduce the amount of waste you produce. To protect natural resources and landfill space, adhere to the three "R's."

Earth Day is a worldwide event that is observed annually on April 22. It is a day to commemorate the planet we call home, to raise awareness about environmental issues, and to encourage people to take action to protect the earth. The day serves as a reminder that we all have a responsibility to care for the planet, and it is our duty to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

There are several actions we can take to make a positive impact on the planet, including:

    1. Reduce, reuse, and recycle: Reducing our consumption of single-use plastics, reusing items wherever possible, and recycling materials such as paper, plastic, glass, and metal can help conserve resources, reduce waste, and prevent pollution.
    2. Conserve energy: We can reduce our carbon footprint by being mindful of our energy use. Simple actions such as turning off lights when leaving a room, using energy-efficient light bulbs, and unplugging appliances when not in use can help conserve energy and reduce our impact on the environment.
    3. Support sustainable brands: Supporting brands that prioritize sustainability and ethical practices can make a difference. We can choose to buy products that use eco-friendly materials, reduce waste, and have a positive social impact.
    4. Plant trees and support afforestation initiatives: Trees are essential to our planet as they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Planting trees in our communities or supporting afforestation initiatives can help combat climate change and contribute to a greener planet.
    5. Use eco-friendly transportation: Reducing our reliance on cars and opting for eco-friendly transportation such as cycling, walking, or using public transportation can help reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality.
    6. Reduce water consumption: Water is a precious resource, and reducing our water consumption can help conserve it. Simple actions such as taking shorter showers, fixing leaky faucets, and using collected rainwater for watering plants can help reduce water waste.
    7. Educate and raise awareness: We can educate ourselves and others about environmental issues and raise awareness about the importance of sustainable practices. By sharing knowledge and encouraging others to take action, we can create a ripple effect and inspire change.

As Wendell Berry said, "The Earth is what we all have in common." We all share the responsibility to protect our planet and ensure its sustainability. By taking small but meaningful actions, we can make a positive impact on the planet and contribute to a greener future for all. Let us use Earth Day as an opportunity to reflect on our relationship with the planet and take action to protect it.
